Blue light hazard

Date of issue:2020-06-26

The latest national mandatory standard GB 7000.1-2015 lamps and lanterns Part 1: General requirements and tests will be implemented soon, and the new version will be adopted in China from January 1, 2017

Compared with the old standard, the new standard has made several amendments, one of which is to increase the requirement for blue light hazard, such as:

For luminaires with integral LED or LED module, blue light hazard assessment shall be conducted according to IEC / TR 62778;

For portable lamps and night lights for children, the blue light hazard level measured at a distance of 200 mm shall not exceed Rg1;

For portable lamps and hand lamps, if the blue light hazard level measured at a distance of 200 mm exceeds Rg1, the symbol of "do not stare at the light source" shall be marked on the conspicuous position outside the lamp, and the telephone number may be 13318799090

For fixed luminaires, if the blue light hazard level measured at a distance of 200 mm exceeds Rg1, it is necessary to determine the critical distance of the luminaire at Rg1 by test.

IEC / en62471 is mainly used to measure the wide band light and calculate the time, angle and sensitivity of human eyes and skin to light

1、 Applicable products all lamps and lamp systems except laser. (a single wavelength laser is easy to test, and the ordinary lamp may be a wide band light source due to the influence of light emitting body, diffuser, lens, auxiliary optical element, etc.)

2、 Wavelength range of the test

Optical radiation with wavelengths ranging from 200nm to 3000Nm

3、 Test parameters and object test parameters

1. Irradiance (radiation flux divided by unit area, unit: w-m-2)

2. Irradiance (irradiance divided by FOV, which can be converted by irradiance)

1. UV damage to skin and eyes

2. Near UV (315nm-400nm)

3. Retinal blue light hazard

4. Retinal blue light hazard (small light source)

5. Retinal heat hazard

6. Thermal damage to retina (for weak visual stimulation) (780nm-1400nm)

7. Infrared radiation hazard of eyes (780nm-3000nm)

8. Skin thermal hazard (380nm-3000nm)

The harm of blue light has been a hot issue recently. According to iec62471, blue light damage mainly refers to the photochemical reaction caused by light radiation between 300nm and 700nm, which leads to retinal damage. Due to the rich blue light components in LED products, and the brightness of bare LED light source is often high, the risk of blue light hazard may exist in LED lamps.
