California energy efficiency CEC

Date of issue:2020-05-13

CEC is the abbreviation of California Energy Commission's (California Energy Commission's), whose responsibility is to make the energy market develop towards the direction of benign competition. The California electrical energy efficiency regulation, which was implemented by the organization since 1976, is the only mandatory energy-saving regulation that can affect non-governmental consumption behavior in the United States, and plays an important role in reducing energy consumption.

The regulation stipulates that electrical products must first meet the equipment energy efficiency regulations when they are sold in California, USA. the regulation specifies energy efficiency index requirements, measurement methods and phased implementation plan for 58 categories of electrical products. According to the requirements of the regulation, electrical products must be tested by qualified laboratories according to the corresponding regulations or standards of the United States, and can be sold in California of the United States after proving that they meet the requirements.

CEC is a compulsory certification program in California.

If power supply is to be sold in California, it needs to obtain CEC certification. If it fails to meet the requirements of publication number: cec-400-2009-013, it is prohibited to sell the device in California.

CEC requirements for power supply
For AC input external power supply (AC input external power supply), according to the energy law of California of the United States, this kind of AC input external power supply must obtain CEC (California Energy Commission's) energy efficiency test certification before July 1, 2007, if it fails to meet the requirements of appliance efficiency According to the requirements of the new regulation, all devices are prohibited from being sold in California, USA.
This energy act has special requirements for the performance of switching power supply. It has two levels "Ⅲ" and "Ⅳ", that is, the third level and the fourth level. It requires higher no-load power consumption and overall efficiency of the switching power supply.
