SAA is the abbreviation of Standards Association of Australia. For the sake of simplicity, Australian safety certification is traditionally called SAA certification. Electronic and electrical products entering Australia (including Australia and New Zealand) must pass the certification, and the product must be marked with the certificate number before they can be legally sold in Australia. There are standard mutual recognition agreements between Australia, New Zealand and both sides. All products certified by Australia can enter the New Zealand market smoothly. The product safety testing in Australia is tested by the National Association of testing authorities (Nata) laboratory or CB member laboratory. The test report shall be submitted to the certification authority of each state to apply for certificate.

At present, there are 4 main institutions qualified to accept the application for certification
1. Office of fair trading, New South Wales (NSW)
2. Department of industrial relations, Queensland
3. The office of the chief electrical inspector, Victoria (Victoria)
4. SAA approval Pty Ltd
After the certificate is issued by one of the above certification acceptance institutions, the abbreviation code of the certification company and the registration certificate number are marked as "safety mark", such as "n12345", which means the certificate issued by NSW, with the registration number of "12345". If there is no certification mark in the safety regulation certification, it is not allowed to put the mark of the license issuing agency in the label. The authentication number needs to be printed on the label. Australian standards start with "as" and joint standards between Australia and New Zealand begin with "as / NZS". The standards of Australia and New Zealand are basically consistent with IEC, and there are some differences between them. Australia and New Zealand promote the unification of standards and mutual recognition of certification. Products can be sold in another country as long as they are certified by one country. Australian safety certification covers six continents in Australia.
Application method of SAA certification
1. Direct application
2. Transfer through CB Report
At present, customers often use CB reports to transfer SAA. SAA test standards are basically the same as IEC and EN standards, but there are small differences. Therefore, the Australian differences should be written in the report during the test, and special attention should be paid to the special requirements of pins. The Australian voltage is single-phase 240V, three-phase 415V, frequency is 50 Hz.
SAA has two kinds of marks: formal certification and standard mark. Formal certification is only responsible for samples, and standard marks are subject to Factory review.
