South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) is the appointed national standardisation institution in the Republic of South Africa. Mandated to develop, promote and maintain the South African National Standards as well as ensuring the promotion of quality in commodities, products and services. SABS renders conformity assessment services and assist in matters within this mandate.
In 2016, South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) engaged with their stakeholders regarding the costs and economic impact of the SABS’ certificates of compliance practice. In this same year, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) and South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), signed a MoU ensuring electronic products entering the South African borders will be reviewed to enable the prevention of low quality products entering our markets.
Declaration form to be used for products that were in the market prior to 1 June 2016, and no EMC Certificate of Compliance was obtained.

三、How long is the certificate valid for SABS COC
The certificate of compliance will be valid for a period of three (3)years calculated from the date of issue by the SABS
四、SABS EMC CoC certificate annual fee
The annual fee is payable at least three (3) months before expiration of the annual anniversary date of the certificate of compliance. In the event that the payment is not made by the specified date, the SABS reserves the right to withdraw the certificate of compliance
五、How to apply for SABS EMC CoC certificate
1. Fill in EMC/COC Application
2. Provide test samples
3. Technical documents(circuit diagram、PCB Layout、Product manual, etc.)
4. Test passed, report issued
5. Submit report to apply for COC certificate
6. Get EMC COC certificate
六、How long is the cycle
It takes 4-6 weeks from test to certificate
