Energy Star certification

Date of issue:2020-05-13

"Energy Star" is a commodity energy-saving labeling system jointly launched by the U.S. Department of energy and the environmental protection agency in 1992. Nowadays, most of the products that meet the energy-saving standards in the U.S. market are labeled with "Energy Star". "Energy Star" was first used for office equipment such as computers, and then gradually extended to household appliances. Now even some newly built houses claim to have joined the "Energy Star" program.

"Energy Star" is a consensus formed by the U.S. Department of energy, environmental protection agency, manufacturers, retailers, consumers and local governments, and has become a symbol of energy conservation and environmental protection. The energy star logo is issued to high-efficiency products that use less electricity than the minimum power consumption standard. Facts have proved that the "Energy Star" labeling measures adopted by the U.S. government have changed consumers' consumption habits, improved the concept of energy efficiency of consumers and manufacturers, and effectively guided the market. According to a survey by the US energy development agency, 43% of consumers said they would choose "Energy Star" when shopping. Today, energy star certification products cover more than 3400 products in the United States, and more than 1200 manufacturers have produced energy star products. Studies have shown that energy star products are 13% - 20% more efficient than the minimum energy efficiency standards. Energy star plans to save 80 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in 2001 alone.

Unlike the energy guide mandatory energy labeling program, which is headed by the U.S. Department of energy (DOE), energy star is a voluntary energy efficiency labeling program. Its significant effect is to help consumers buy more energy-efficient appliances, and its ultimate goal is to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. Energy Star certification can be Baidu "environmental test"

The "Energy Star" logo is a voluntary requirement. However, in terms of energy-saving management and energy efficiency standards, it not only plays an important role in the United States, but also has become an international energy-saving symbol. At present, it has been introduced by Canada, Japan, EU, Australia and many other countries. In particular, in July 2007, the fourth edition of computer energy star standard, which represents the advanced symbol of computer energy conservation field, has become the market orientation of energy-saving products. Affixing the "Energy Star" energy efficiency label has become one of the most influential and successful energy efficiency labeling systems in the United States. Products labeled with the "Energy Star" label indicate that they have obtained the energy consumption indicators approved by the US Department of energy and the environmental protection agency. Consumers choose energy-saving products mainly according to the label. At the same time, according to the federal decree, they can also get priority procurement from the government.

The energy efficiency of appliances with the energy star logo usually exceeds 15% of the federal energy efficiency standard, some even as high as 110%. In addition, it also controls the power consumption of the appliance in standby mode. Electrical buyers can get assurance that appliances with the energy star logo have lower operating costs than those without the energy star logo.
