WPC certification in India

Date of issue:2020-05-13

WPC certification in India, like most other countries, RF is considered a natural resource. In order to effectively control the use of radio frequency spectrum in wireless communication, Indian government departments set up a special regulatory agency "wireless planning and coordination department". Its full English name is "wireless planning and coordination wing", abbreviated as WPC. Wireless products entering India need WPC certification

Specifically, any wireless transmission less than 3000 GHz without manual control is considered as "wireless communication" as defined by WPC. These frequency bands are under the control of WPC. That is to say, wireless transmission (e.g. infrared) with frequencies higher than 3000 GHz is not considered "wireless communication". WPC certification does not control these bands.

With the exponential growth of the demand and use of low-power wireless communication equipment in daily use, WPC constantly updates and modifies its rules and regulations to meet the market access requirements of international wireless products. As India has two types of free and non open frequency bands, it is necessary to apply for ETA certificate from WPC for wireless communication products whose frequency band and output power fall within the control range. In addition, the holders of ETA must be locally registered companies. In addition, WPC accepts the RF report of CE report and transfers it to WPC for certification without providing samples and testing.

WPC regulated product range:

WPC covers all equipment with radio transmitters. These include mobile (GSM or WCDMA) mobile phones, wireless local area network (WLAN) devices, such as Wi Fi devices, Bluetooth devices, ZigBee devices, WiMAX devices, RFID devices, contactless smart card readers, and combined with some other RF transmitter products RF.

The WPC's mandatory product catalog is as follows:

1. STB set top box

2. AV products

3. Computer products

4. 32 inch plasma / LCD / LED TV with input power greater than 200W and DVD microwave oven with built-in power amplifier

5. Projector or display device above 32 inches, printer, plotter

6. Scanner

7. Wireless keyboard

8. Telephone set

9. Products with input side greater than 200W power amplifier input side greater than 200W electronic instrument AC input side electronic clock automatic data processing equipment

Summary of application for WPC certification in India:

1. WPC certification is mandatory and does not require factory inspection;

2. WPC certification has no authentication mark, the certificate has no fixed validity period, and the standard remains unchanged, so it can be used all the time;

3. WPC certification application cycle takes 3 to 4 weeks and local representatives are required.

WPC certification process:

1. The customer shall prepare the authorization letter and relevant test report (red test rpport);

2. Domestic preliminary examination;

3. Submit official application of WPC in India;

4. Certification.

Data to be provided for WPC certification:

1. Information received and transmitted by section B & C

2. Letter of authorization (manufacturer declares to WPC that it is authorized to local agent to execute WPC's application action)

3. Declaration letter (the manufacturer declares to WPC that the frequency band used by its products is within the scope of WPC's control, and the output power of 2.4g/5g meets the regulatory requirements)

4. RF test report (the test report should show the terminal product model) and the qualification certificate of the reporting organization;

5. Wireless specification, English version
